It turned out to be a weekend of dominant racing performances for Moose Racing sponsored athletes and it all began at Round 7 of the Lucas Oil Pro Motocross Championships on Saturday. The Red Bull Southwick National has always been kind to the Dowd family as the track has seen John “Junk Yard Dog” Dowd take advantage of the close proximity to where they live and the huge fan base that follows them. Son Ryan didn’t disappoint this time around as he set the 7th fastest qualifying time in the premier 450 Class and followed it up with moto finishes of 18th and 16th for a top 20 overall performance.
It took a little while to pull off the Wiseco John Penton GNCC National due to heavy rains earlier in the season, but it was well worth the wait for the Rocky Mountain ATV/MC KR4 Husqvarna Team. Leading the charge was XC1 Pro rider Grant Baylor who took his first overall win. The race was originally won by Thad Duvall, but he was later docked by GNCC officials for cutting the course which handed the win to Baylor.
Tayla Jones continued her 2017 dominance by laying claim to her 16th win of the season. The Australian rider found herself on top of the big box again and is looking forward to the summer break now. Rounding out the triple podium performance was Hunter Neuwirth who secured his first victory of the season in the XC3 Class.
Round 5 of the Kenda Full Gas Sprint Enduro Series took place in Virginia on Saturday and Sunday as well and our success carried over to the two-day ISDE style format. Moose Racing’s Jordan Ashburn topped both days of competition in taking his second consecutive win of the series. Newly signed rider Brooke Cosner took advantage of her new deal with us and parlayed that into a Women’s Class win!
